What a year!

It has been a privilege to work with such a respectful and hard-working group of Year 11 students this year.

The Year 11 cohort is engaged in many aspects of the BSC community and it has been a pleasure to watch and support the students thrive in these many areas. There have been many highlightsand I hope that the students should be proud of their progress and many successes.

SRC year level representatives, Yianni Pavlakos and Kyle Keuris, hosted the fortnightly COGS sessions throughout the year -  engaging with their peers and ensuring that material presented was accessible and relevant for the wider student body. This open and regular communication had many great outcomes - not the least it helped ensure that the much anticipated Year 12 2017 Jumpers were designed and selected by the student body, ordered early and will be delivered by the first day of school in 2017!

The Year 11 Mooting Team was extremely successful in the LaTrobe University Secondary School Mooting Competition this year, making it through to the regional rounds, semi-finals and into the grand final. The students spent weeks researching the case and relevant law, preparing their legal arguments and practicing their speeches. It was so good to see all of their hard work pay off. Arushi Tandon, was awarded with Best Speaker in the grand final.

The Year 11 students were stand-outs in many BSC performances this year. The acting and film-making skills of students such as Adam Abdullatif, James Heywood, Nicholas Harrap and Liban Mohammed Guleed were highlights at the BSC Film Festival. The Year 11 students’ musical talents also shone at the many instrumental concerts this year. In particular, I enjoyed watching the eight Year 11 students working together in a performance at the guitar concert.
