VCE Results
It is a pleasure to commence the final newsletter of the year with commendation to our Class of 2016 on their VCE results: 97 students completed VCAA examinations and received an ATAR score.
We congratulate the school Dux, William Vo, on his outstanding score of 98.15. School Captain, Elise Louey was also an outstanding performer with an ATAR of 97.95 and Christina Yang was our top International Student with an ATAR of 94. 35.
31 students obtained an ATAR above 70 - which is testament to their solid work throughout the year. Some of our Year 11 students completing an Early Start VCE subject also received very high study scores, above 40. This is setting them up for a very successful final year in 2017.
We congratulate all Year 12 students and commend them on the attainment of their VCAL Certificates or VCE. We wish them well for 2017 and beyond and look forward to a continuing relationship, by inviting them back to school events.
Orientation Day
Orientation Day on Tuesday 6 December was an opportunity to welcome our new Year 7 students to Brunswick Secondary College. It was wonderful to see the engagement of our new students and their willingness to introduce themselves to new classmates from other primary schools. Thank you to our Parents Association for welcoming new parents with tea, coffee and muffins whilst their children were getting started in classes.
2017
The first day for students in 2017 is Wednesday 1 February, 2017.
It is suggested students check Compass and school emails in the weeks prior to commencing school for updates on timetables and organisational matters for Day 1.
There is a slight change to the dismissal time in 2017. This accommodates a change of recess and yard duty length. Recess will be 30 minutes and lunch will be 60 minutes in 2017 resulting in the school day ending at 3:21pm. Please see the Compass Newsfeed for the new timings.
Finally, I extend a thank you to the students, staff and parents of Brunswick Secondary College for their support in 2016. I have referred many times to the warm welcome I have received since starting at the school in Term 2 this year.
We can look back on 2016 as a very successful year with Brunswick Secondary College students again involving themselves fully in the rich co-curricular program on offer and committing themselves to their studies. I have very much enjoyed 2016 and look forward to 2017 and the continued success it will bring for our school community.
I wish all students and families a safe and restful holiday period.
