Fit2Drive

Fit2Drive

On Tuesday 24th October, the FIt2Drive team came and educated all the Year 11’s through running a variety of activities.  The program got Year 11's to brainstorm strategies and solutions to prevent risks, and was an all-round great learning experience for all young drivers. This program was an eye opening experience for many of us and we believe a beneficial one, as driving is a very relevant topic for our age group as most of us are currently driving. In our home groups, we participated in workshops where we analysed situations and thought about how we would react if we were in them. There was plenty of discussion as we responded to questions and other tasks.

The Youth Resources Officer form Knox Police highlighted the importance of safety and we were able to ask and answer questions. The whole year level were gathered in the Theatre for a case study of a recent accident in Byron Bay; this really engaged everyone and reminded us of the risks we take when driving.  It allowed us to relate to the people involved in the crash as they were approximately our age, however, learn from the mistakes that they made. Overall, Fit2Drive was a thought provoking and educational experience that has greatly assisted us in being aware of driving hazards, how to manage them and how to be safe on our roads.
