Rumbling with vulnerability

The past few months have challenged humanity in ways never experienced before but beautiful positives have evolved. The innovative growth with people’s ability to problem solve and care for each other, despite this adversity. Surprising findings are emerging from this negative situation include new ways of doing things, insightful humanitarian storytelling, greater awareness and the need for meaningful connections, enhancement of physical exercise and good health, our willingness to collaborate together and build collective impact to co design a better future. Connection is one essential element to navigate the myriads of change and tackle the difficult problems. We have learnt to address the challenges and lean into our vulnerability.

Brene Brown, talks about learning to rise for a better future and rumbling with vulnerability.

“When we have the courage to walk into our story and own it, we get to write the ending. And, when we don't own our stories of failure, setbacks, and hurt – they own us”.

A rumble is a discussion, conversation, or meeting defined by a commitment to lean into vulnerability, to stay curious and generous, to stick with the messy middle of problem identification and solving, to take a break and circle back when necessary, to be fearless in owning our parts.

You could create a rumble tool ‘Square Squad’

Take a 20mm X 20mm piece of paper.

Write down several names of people whose opinions matter to you.

  • That someone is not a ‘Yes’ person
  • That someone who respects you
  • That someone loves you

because of your vulnerability

Then fold it and put it into your purse/wallet.

Keep it.
