Year 10 Electives 2020
On Thursday 10th of October the majority of current Year 9 students attended counselling interviews at school with a parent or guardian to select their electives for Semester 1 next year. All students have now completed their selections and units running have been decided on. The Timetabler is now working to ensure that students get their choices. Students should receive their allocated classes by the end of November.
Year 9 2020 Transition Program Update
Commencing the week of Monday 11th of November, all current Year 8 students from Wanganui Park Secondary College, McGuire College, Shepparton High School and Mooroopna Secondary College will be visiting the Mooroopna Campus for three weeks of transition.
The transition activities will take place between 11am and 12.30pm. Week 1 will consist of ‘engagement activities’, whilst Week 2 and Week 3 will involve students in a range of classroom activities involving either Art, Science, English or Physical Education. This will see each student visit Mooroopna on three more occasions, building familiarity with the Campus and beginning the development of new friendships.
At the moment, all Year 8 students are being placed into Year 9 groups for the Transition weeks. These groupings are a mixture of all students from across all campuses. These are not the final groups for 2020. Further information will be forthcoming as we approach the first week of the transition program on Monday 11th November.
Elective program
The Elective handbooks for the 2020 Year 9 cohort are hot off the press and were distributed immediately after Tuesday’s assembly. Year 8 students will be offered the opportunity to select Electives during a Year 9 Subject Selection day on Friday 25th October. A letter with details was given to all Year 8 students at the same time as the booklet was distributed. Please ask your child for the letter, or contact the front office, if you have not received one. Students who missed the assembly can collect a copy of the booklet and letter from the front office.
Orientation Day Tuesday December 10th
On Tuesday December 10th all Year 9 students will attend Mooroopna Campus for a full day of classroom activities. On this day students will be allocated into Form groups for their core classes in 2020.
On the night prior to the Orientation Day there will be an information session for parents and students to be held at Westside, Mooroopna Secondary College from 6.30pm to 7.30pm (Monday December 9th).
