Southern Metropolitan Regional Athletics Carnival
Patterson River Secondary College had 9 students representing the College at Casey Athletics Centre at Casey Fields, Cranbourne on Thursday 12th October. These students earned the right by winning their events at the Northern Peninsula District Athletics Carnival. It was a showcase of athletic skill and ability and Patterson River had an extraordinary success rate. Of the 9 students, six received medals and two students will progress onto the State Final after finishing 1st in their events. Congratulations to Ayden Woodward (U17 Year Boys Shot Put) and Rhys McKenna (U12-13 Year Girls Javelin) on their gold medals. Aiden McKenna (2nd in U16 Year Boys Javelin) and Tyler Foreman (2nd in U18-20 Year Discuss) had an exceptional afternoon and will be on stand by for the next round if the winners can’t compete. Brayth Thompson (3rd in U14 Year Boys Shot Put) and Hattie McFadden (3rd in U17 Year Girls Discus) did themselves and the school proud. Daniel Temkin competed in 3 events and only just missed out on a medal. A special mention to Tyler Hornberg and Seth Hughes who competed against some extremely talented opposition and were supportive team members all day. It was a pleasure taking these students to this carnival. Well done and good luck to Ayden and Rhys in the State Finals.

Year 8 Girls Hockey
Our Year 8 Girls played some outstanding Hockey at Mentone Hockey Field late last term . The group of girls, who were all very new to the sport. played two pool matches resulting in two wins against Frankston and Elisabeth Murdoch College. This led them to a Grand Final against the highly fancied Mt Erin SC. The girls scored the opening goal of the final which gave Mt Erin a scare but unfortunately ended up going down 3-1. The girls showed an incredible ability to pick up the skills of the sport really well and their development throughout the day was fantastic. Well done.
