Student Leadership

Student Representative Council (SRC)

On Monday 20 February the Student Representative Council held its first, extended meeting, dedicated to electing members to key positions and planning the year ahead. This year, the SRC has been challenged to undertake further responsibility by running their own meetings and further coordinating student projects. In 2017, Olivia Nguyen has been elected as Chairperson, Kayla Trezona will be the Treasurer and Jennifer Huynh takes on the role of secretary. Other SRC members will serve the student body in a range of other roles, from Environmental Officers to Promotions to Photographers.

The SRC's first project in 2017 will be coordinating fundraising for the upcoming Habitat for Humanity trip, which takes place at the end of Term 2. All Villages are encouraged to participate in their own fundraising, to earn coloured 'bricks' which will slowly build a 'house' in the Mall. Bricks represent $25 worth of funds raised and also count towards Village point totals. Other ideas suggested at our first meeting include a range of non-uniform days, the annual Endeavour's Got Talent event and supporting Samaritan's Purse by organising Shoeboxes of Love for children in need.

Students are reminded that they can approach their SRC members at any time, with ideas, opinions or suggestions. There is also a digital suggestion box on ECOLI for the same purpose. The SRC look forward to serving the student body in 2017.

2017 College Captains

Elly Schoff

When asked about my new role as College Captain and how it is going so far, I feel like people expect me to talk about how much work I have been doing, but truthfully it has given me a new opportunity to encourage and simply chat with those around me. I know as a Year 8, I alienated the Captains as “those people” who felt like they were trillions of years older than me and way more mature. They were the people who knew how to do life. Now that I am that Year 12, I realise I have learnt how to interact with a bigger world around me, but really I am still myself - that little Year 8 five years ago.

I hope this year I can be approachable and someone who is always there for each student; Year 7 or Year 10, whoever they may be. High school teaches you how to be yourself in an ever changing world where you are told that when you hit Year 12 you must know what you are going to do with your life. I have an idea about what I am passionate about, really though, anything can happen. Life will always be a journey and I hope I can be there to help you along yours. My vision is for Endeavour College to be one big family. One big community, where we are all discovering our way in that big world beyond Mawson Lakes.

Michael Richardson

A leader to many is considered a powerful and wise person. However I believe that it is more than that.  It requires commitment to every aspect of life. I see leaders as figures of influence and individuality. That being a leader is about living your life with the mind set of giving, rather than receiving. These are the values I want to share and that is the leader I want to be.

As a young boy growing up I never really understood what it meant to lead. However over the years I have been able to identify it for myself.  I was able to make my own definition and then become the leader that I wanted to be, not what others told me or what I thought it was.

When I was given the role as College Captain, I was unsure of what to do. How could I make my mark on the school? It was only on a yLead camp which involved many other leaders, that I realised it wouldn’t be what I did which people would remember me for, it would be how I did it.

Throughout the year I want to create endless possibilities for change, both personal and practical. To bring the best out of my peers and give them the sense of community within the school and to be positive and encourage them when they need it most. Although Year 12 is a big year, which requires full attention and effort, I want to keep to my vision from the start of the year, not forgetting why I was chosen for the role. On top of this I am involved in a sporting club, of which I play soccer. I work at Foodland and enjoy helping out and getting involved at Youth at my church. Through this busy schedule I overall want to enjoy the year and make memories which will stay with me forever. After school my plan is to take a gap year during which I want to volunteer and continue working and deciding where I want to study.
