Term 2 starts on Monday 1 May 2017 and all students must be wearing Winter Uniform.  As the Uniform Shop is not open during the school holidays, winter uniform items must be purchased before the end of Term 1.  If parents are unable to personally visit the shop during opening hours, students can go to the shop during lunch opening hours where they can be assisted with sizing.  Parents are also welcome to email or phone the College and place an order which will be given to the student via their Care Group basket the next day.  Students are able to purchase socks, hats, ties and pencil cases from Student Services before and after school and during lunch and recess time.

The Smith Family’s student2student Buddy Program

A rewarding volunteering opportunity for Year 7-10 students

The Smith Family is a national children’s charity helping disadvantaged young Australians to succeed at school, so they can create better futures for themselves.

In this 18-week peer mentoring program, your child will act as a Buddy to a disadvantaged student aged 8-14, helping them to increase their reading skills and confidence by listening to them read over the phone 2-3 times a week.

Your child will receive FREE training by specialist staff and be provided with a complete tool kit.

Students are fully supported during the program and will receive a certificate from The Smith Family’s CEO.

Some of the rewards of volunteering:

  • Promotes personal growth and self-esteem
  • Encourages civic responsibility
  • Strengthens your local community

“It was nice to help someone with their reading because I couldn’t imagine life without that skill.”  - student2student Buddy

If your child is interested in becoming a student2student Buddy, please see Catherine Barnes, Teacher Librarian, for a program fact sheet and application form.
