SPBL - What does it mean?

At Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Primary School, we are committed to implementing a School-Wide Positive Behaviour for Learning (SPBL) approach to the teaching and management of student behaviour. SPBL approach means that we:

  • use DATA to track progress and identify areas for intervention;
  • use school-wide EXPECTATIONS and RULES in specific settings to EXPLICITLY TEACH appropriate behaviour;
  • use a POSITIVE INCENTIVE program to encourage appropriate behaviour and
  • use EFFECTIVE CONSEQUENCES to discourage inappropriate behaviour.

Our school community has identified the following school rules to teach and promote our high standards of responsible behaviour:

 ● Be Safe

 ● Be Respectful

 ● Be a Learner

Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Primary School uses a three-tiered approach to facilitating standards of positive behaviour and responding to unacceptable behaviour, through the provision of universal, targeted and intensive support.

OLF SPBL Incentive Program

Our school-wide Incentive Program is expected to increase positive behaviour in classrooms and playgrounds.

When children consistently follow class/playground rules and try his/her best, they are awarded a Mercy Card.

Gold SPBL Awards

Students who continually do the right thing in the classroom and/or the playground and earn  60 Mercy Cards join Mrs Clay for a Morning Tea at the end of each term.

NEW… Platinum SPBL Awards are presented to students who earn 80 Mercy Cards. These students will also be presented with an OLF SPBL School Medallion.

NEW… Titanium SPBL Awards are presented to students who earn 100 Mercy Cards. These students will be presented with an OLF SPBL School Trophy.

Each week students, parents and carers will come together as a school community to celebrate the great things that have happened. Students who have received an SPBL award will be acknowledged at these assemblies on Friday mornings.

We are looking forward to acknowledging and celebrating positive behaviour for learning at OLF throughout the year!
