NSWCIS Secondary Athletics Championships

Well done to Emily McL (Year 8), Dan B (Year 8) & Ollie E (Year 11) who recently represented NCS at the NSWCIS Secondary Athletics Championships. A special congratulations to Ollie who placed 1st in the 17 year Boys High Jump, jumping an impressive 1.83m. Well done Ollie!

Go Elsie, Go!

Elsie P, from Year 6, attended the Combined Independent Schools (CIS) Athletics at Homebush in Sydney late in Term 3. In her mum's words: 'Elsie’s had a cracking day! She ran in two track events. In the 1500 metres she finished in 6th place with an 8 second PB 5:33:29. In the 800 metres she finished 7th in 2:46:24, a great race with some VERY Tough competition! She ran so well and we are very proud.'

We echo her family's sentiments and congratulate Elsie on her outstanding achievements in athletics this season. Very well done indeed, Elsie!

NSW All Schools Athletics Championships

by Hamish and Emily Mc

On 27 September, we competed at the 2022 NSW All Schools Athletics Championships. We both competed in the Steeplechase, which is a very challenging event. Emily ran the 76.2cm barrier 2000m race and placed 5th with a great time. She was very pleased with this result after recovering from an injury. Hamish chose to run up an age group in the 84cm barrier height, 2000m race and placed 3rd, which has qualified him to compete at the Australian National Championships in QLD next year.

We love competing together and supporting each other in this event. We were both proud to represent the school, especially when Hamish was called to the podium and hearing our school being called out in the stadium.

Well done to Hamish and Emily on your efforts! We wish Hamish all the best for the Australian National Championships next year.

Wrap up for Write a Book in a Day

Last term, more than 80 students took part in Write A Book In A Day. As well as being a great creative challenge, it was a fund-raiser for Kids Cancer Project. We are very proud of the teams that took part; together they raised $6,276! Our most impressive fundraisers were 'Better Than Best'. Congratulations to Michael R, Myles C, James M, Tayla G, Lachlan W, Chris M and Michael T for raising $1286. Thank you to everyone who participated in this special event.

Eloise wins Best Regional Award at the Parli-Flicks

Last Tuesday night, Year 10 student Eloise R was a finalist in the 2022 Parli-Flicks Short Film Awards held at the NSW Parliament House building.

The Parli-Flicks award is open to secondary students in Years 7-12 and is designed to encourage them to express their views about democracy. Students were asked to submit a one minute film, based on the theme: ‘Parliament! Why do we need it?’. Eloise's short film on this subject received the 'Best Regional Award'.

Eloise has shown great interest in film-making, having recently completed a workshop on it in the holidays and maybe one day she will pursue it as a career.

Well done Eloise!
