Y9/10 Poverty & Power

Term 3 PBL

For the Term 3 Poverty and Power PBL, students selected a country of their choice to explore one of the following issues:

  • Food security
  • Water and sanitation
  • Human rights
  • Disease (i.e., Malaria, tuberculosis, Ebola, etc)
  • Child soldiers
  • Poverty
  • Child labour
  • Human trafficking
  • Civil war
  • Natural disasters

Students spent time researching and analysing what factors caused the issue, how the issue impacts well-being and what trends in data tell us what the future could be like for that country. Students chose a variety of countries, such as Somalia, Bangladesh, Sierra Leone and South Africa. They presented their findings in a range of formats to educate others.
