Eye Dissection

Last week, students in Year 8 completed an eye dissection as part of their ‘Heat Light and Sound’ unit. The students found this session to be extremely beneficial and gained a greater depth of understanding of the how light enters the eye and how an image is formed. Many were surprised by how tough the eye was to cut and that the pupil is actually just an empty hole! 

Scienceworks Excursion

As part of the 'Heat Light and Sound' unit for BEST, last week students in Year 8 attended an excursion to Scienceworks. They explored two exhibitions - 'Lights, Energy, Action' and 'Beyond Perception: Seeing the Unseen' and learnt about different kinds of energy, including light, sound and electricity. Our students also enjoyed wandering through the 'Sportsworks' exhibition, where they connected their learning from their Term 2 unit on ‘Body Systems.’
