MIDDLE C NEWS

THRIVE ONLINE WEBINAR

Here are the students’ thoughts about our cyber safe learning with Marty:

  • I have learnt to post online when it is the right time to do so. But if I don't, there will be consequences!
  • Do not put your location on an online account like instagram and Tickok, but you can put it on Google Maps.
  • I enjoyed the Kahoot sessions.
  • I want to learn more about how to stop people bullying others and to protect others online.

From Matthew

  • I really liked the Kahoot sessions and I want to learn more about sending stuff online which is safe and learning about more strategies to not send stuff inappropriate online.
  • Everything was fun about the webinar session and I have learnt never to send inappropriate stuff online.

Cheers, Armin

  • I have learnt that you can turn off your location for apps, like instagram (etc).
  • I would like to learn more about computer safety and coding.
  • I really liked activities like Kahoot.

Cheers, Liesel

I learnt that you should not send things in public and DO NOT SEND PICTURES OF YOURSELF ONLINE!

  • Another thing you should do is turn on and off where you are (location) and do not share where you live!
  • What I liked about the session was playing the Kahoot quiz.
  • The program can help you feel more safe when you are doing things online like playing games.

From Alyssa

  • I really liked the Kahoot quiz which made me learn more about Cyber Safety.
  • I liked how Marty dressed as the animals and other people too!
  • I have learnt about the red flags, and sharing photos, the settings are a superpower, privacy and most importantly Cyber Safety. I learned a lot!

From Samuel

  • On Tuesday I learnt things to try to avoid people trying to hack your computer, like sending random people messages.
  • You should turn your location off when online, unless you're trying to find something on Google Maps.
  • When you show your room to other people online via your web camera, it can be dangerous.
  • I enjoyed the Kahoot quiz because it was fun.

From Aiden

  • The class watched a live session of Marty teaching us about cyber safety and we did some Kahoot quizzes as well.
  • I much prefer the Kahoot quiz games because you have to figure out what is not safe online, like when someone online you don’t really know asks you to meet up in person.
  • I learnt that being online is not such a safe place because people can hack and bully you and that people aren't always nice to you.
  • I also want to learn more about online safety.

Dante

  • I learnt that with some apps and games on your phone people can see your location.
  • I liked the Kahoot quiz because the questions helped us check that we learnt important information.
  • I  would also like to learn different ways to stay safe especially when playing games and using apps for kids.

Nicholas

  • What I have learned from Marty is that I have to get off the screens 1 hour before bed as it really helps to sleep.
  • I also learned that if someone gives you something or says, “hey let's meet up” and you don’t know them, report them straight away or immediately tell your parents.
  • It was really fun learning about cyber safety because it will help later in the future.
  • Everything was fun about the session, especially the Kahoot quizzes and the stories.

Asher

  • I learned to turn off the chat forums :D and l had fun doing the Kahoot quizzes - I came 60th out of all the schools that joined the webinar.
  • I leant that I have  super powers with settings. Also, do not click on random people's links and don’t give or show people my face, age, state and house address.
  • I want to learn more about what you do when a hacker hacks you.

Charlie

  • I have learnt that being online is very unsafe.
  • I am going to list some unsafe things I learnt about like: sending photos on social media, telling people private information like passwords or your address, your phone number - it’s almost as bad as giving them the keys to your house.
  • If you do one of these things your private information could be exposed to the world. You never send a random person a message.
  • I enjoyed the Kahoot quizzes because it was competitive and fun.
  • I want to learn more about cyber safety.

Jonathan

  • The class watched a live session with Marty on Tuesday about cyber safety.
  • What I enjoyed about the session was the Kahoot quizzes during the webinar, learning how to stay cyber safe. I also liked how Marty mentioned to look out for suspicious messages, like "We should catch up sometime!" Never trust those types of messages.
  • I want to know more about ways to manage my settings on my devices.

Arianna

  • I have learnt from Marty about all the different ways that people could be acting suspicious online and ways to react to them.
  • I liked the ways these were explained in the many different stories.
  • I would also like to learn about different ways people can hack you.
  • Anyway, the more we learn, the more we know.

Cormac

  • On Tuesday I learnt some strategies to avoid people trying to hurt me when I'm online. For example, to take a break and that there are some useful things in settings.
  • It would be nice to have some more questions for the Kahoot quizzes.

ON TUESDAY THE 11/10/2022 OUR MIDDLE C CLASS WATCHED A LIVE STREAM ON THRIVE ONLINE. WE PLAYED KAHOOT, DID FUN ACTIVITIES, WATCHED VIDEOS AND MORE:

I liked....

  • How Marty was creative with his ideas.
  • How Marty makes his videos fun to watch!
  • How Marty teaches us to learn how to have fun online, by giving us strategies to be safe against hackers, cheaters and so on online.

I have learnt....

  • That the internet can't always be safe.
  • That if you download something that is not age appropriate, it's more likely that people would lie to you and hack you.
  • That there's lots of naughty people online, and they can do really bad thing's to your apps.

THANK YOU, MARTY FOR HELPING US BEING SAFE ONLINE!

Mya

Things that I LEARNT are...

  • You can actually take a break when being bullied online, to clear your head.
  • keeping your location on matters when posting online and that's it!

From Nathaniel

  • I learnt that it is important to keep some of your settings off and private when online.
  • It is important to be cyber-safe and do not send any of your private information about yourself to people you don’t know.

Ndapiwa

  • I liked doing the Kahoot quizzes and watching the videos of Marty the host being different animals.
  • I learnt that posting images of yourself could do a lot of damage. The more information we share online, the more we are unsafe.

Tiago

  • What I liked about our cyber safe session, is that you learnt how to create your own settings on a game and of course the Kahoot quizzes.
  • I Learned from Marty the presenter that you don't trust random people who are texting you and saying, " here is a gift" and "We should catch up sometime." If you don't know them, keep away!

Lennix

  • What I have learnt is that you should not be chatting to somebody that you do not know and they might be tricking you when they are making out that they are a good person.
  • I enjoyed doing the Kahoot quizzes because it's competitive, and you have to answer the questions quickly. It was lots of fun.

Diya

  • I've learnt to stay away from cyber bullying and dangerous websites that lure you into bad stuff.
  • I've also learnt that if you get sent an inappropriate message or video from someone random, tell an adult immediately and block them.
  • I enjoyed Marty's humor and jokes. I look forward to learning more about cyber safety.
