Assistant Principal's Message

Peer Support 

Over the past two weeks, the Year 5 and 6 students have led Peer Support each afternoon. The overarching theme of the group activities have been based on “Being Socially Aware”. The activities have  been linked to St Margaret Mary’s Vision and Mission. In preparation to lead their groups, the Stage 3 students had to prepare a lesson plan and resources needed for each session. I would like to commend these students on their organisation, creativity and leadership in facilitating the sessions for the younger students. They have done a wonderful job! 

NAPLAN 

Last week students from Yr3 & Yr5 received their 2022 NAPLAN results. NAPLAN allows parents and carers to see how their child is progressing in literacy and numeracy against the national standard and compared with their peers throughout Australia. At the classroom level, NAPLAN provides additional information to support teachers’ professional judgement about student progress. As a school we will analyse the data and use it to drive further improvement in our teaching practice here at St MM’s. 

Progressive Achievement Test (PAT) 

Each year in Term 4, students in Years 1 - 6 sit the PAT (Progressive Achievement Test) for Reading, Mathematics. Just as NAPLAN provides an indication of student achievement against National norms, PAT testing allows for the school to track and monitor individual student growth over a 12 month period. The data obtained from the tests will allow for planning, intervention and will provide a basis for student reporting in Term 4. 

Term 4 School Uniform Logistics 

In Term 4, sport will continue to be held on Wednesday and Thursday each week. Therefore sport uniform is to be worn on Wednesday and Thursday and school uniform on all other days. 

Term 4 Thursday Afternoon Assembly  

In Term 4 Awards Assembly will take place on Thursday afternoons at 2.45pm on the top playground in the even weeks beginning Week 2. The Year 6 students will continue to run the assemblies.
