From the Classroom- M5 (Amelia)

It has been a busy start to Term 4. We have settled back into our routine and have been making smart learner choices. Below is what we have been up to in our literacy sessions.

READING

We have been learning about how an Author often tries to convey a message, to the reader, in the story. We have been reading stories and watching short clips to try and understand the Author's Message. On Monday, we watched a short clip called 'The Lion and the Mouse'. We believed the message was the if you be kind to others, eventually the kindness will come back to you!

WRITING

In Writing, we have been learning at the structure of the narrative. On Friday, we read Possum Magic by Mem Fox. We used the characters and the setting from the story to then write our own problem and resolution.

Ava D's Writing

But the best magic of all was turning Hush into a human! The only problem was he couldn't turn back! They tried and tried but they couldn't do it. Then Grandma Poss looked through a book and found the answer.

"I found the answer!" she screamed. She said to Poss, "eat a Vegemite sandwich, one mint and a doughnut all at the same time."

And voila! He was a possum!

Jaxson's Writing

But the best magic of all was making Hush as big as a building. But there was a problem. He crushed everything and everyone. So Grandma Poss tried to turn him back but she couldn't. She looked for the ingredients to turn him back. She found them in a book. The ingredients were gum nuts, bugs and pinecones leaves. She found pinecones leaves and bugs but she couldn't find gum nuts. She found a Koala and asked "Do you have any gum nuts?"

"Yes I do! Here take them." she said. Grandma Poss ran off to make Hush eat them. When she got back, Hush ate them and she shrunk back to normal.
