Principal Report

As the school year is coming to the end it is always the time for reflection and celebration. It was wonderful celebrating with many of our Year 12 Graduates and their families at their Graduation Dinner. When many of the students spoke, they talked about how they have valued and appreciated the sense of community and family as they progressed through the school. They spoke about the strong friendships they have formed and how this has made a difference to their learning and personal growth and development. The Year 12’s showed a great appreciation for the dedication and support they received from all their teachers who challenged them to achieve at their best. All of the research and data about learning shows that it is the quality of the teacher that makes the most significant impact on a student’s learning. This is a large responsibility to have but I know our teachers work hard to constantly improve. Over the past 6 years we have seen significant growth in applying the latest research in Teaching and Learning to our classroom practice. I am hoping as the students receive their final results on Monday that they will see that their hard work is rewarded and then go onto achieve their future goals.
The School Building Program is well underway with much excavation work happening over the past few weeks. It is very exciting that our Stage 2 Engineering Precinct is well underway with all of the main site works being finished and part of the slab to be poured before Christmas. By the time school starts next year we will find that building will be emerging out of what is currently – a lot of dirt and dust. I know that the School Community is starting to look at how exciting it will be to be based on one site and be able to provide our full 7 – 12 curriculum within the precinct structure. Leaders and staff are starting to work with School Council on some of the logistics of the move and the structures and processes that will need to be in place, e.g. School Uniform. There will be some opportunities to provide more information about how he school will operate during next year and I will invites you to those meetings in term 1 and 2.
I would like to thank the parents, family and friends of the school for their continued support, encouragement and ongoing conversations with the leaders and staff at the school. It is the partnership between the school, families and home that really make sure that our young people are given the best opportunities to achieve their potential.
Have a happy and safe holiday season.
Mary
