Where There's Smoke

By John Heffernan

Where There's Smoke is a really good book. It is about a boy named Luke who lives in a

small remote town in Victoria called Edenville. Luke lives with his mother in an old cottage on a hill not far from Edenville. Ever since Luke was little his father has been bullying his mother and Luke. Because of this they have been moving from town to town trying to get away from his father, but every time Luke’s father finds them. One of Luke’s mother’s friends has told them about Edenville up in the mountains. Luke and his mother have been in Edenville for more than a year and it looks like father has not found

them. Ever since Luke has been in Edenville with his mum he has been happy, but then on the 4 th of February 2009 the horrid fires of Black Saturday were coming and no one in

Edenville cared except Luke’s mother's friend, Tiny Cobb.

I would recommend this book to anyone aged from 10 years to 14 years and I would give it 5/5 stars.
