The school term is coming to a close with our final week of school focusing on NAIDOC Week. The theme for NAIDOC Week 2016 is  Songlines: The living narrative of our nation. The school has a series of events planned to celebrate NAIDOC Week in our community. We invite all parents to join us at relevant events, see Whole School News. St Joseph’s School Warialda will join us on Monday.

Songlines: For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, the Dreamtime describes a time when the earth, people and animals were created by our ancestral spiritual-beings. They created the rivers, lakes, plants, land formations and living creatures. These Songlines are recorded in traditional songs, stories, dance and art. They carry significant spiritual and cultural connection to knowledge, customs, ceremony and Lore of many Aboriginal nations and Torres Strait Islander language groups. For more information on songlines please visit, http://www.naidoc.org.au/2016-national-naidoc-theme-announced.

Next term, the opportunity for parents, staff and students (Years 4, 6, 8 & 10)  to provide feedback in regard to our school, across a variety of areas, will be made available. This is an annual opportunity which all schools undertake in some form, as part of a mandatory process. An email link will be sent to the addresses we currently hold to activate this opportunity. Whole School News has more information to refer to.

Last night, at the June meeting of the School Advisory Body, it was agreed that the school newsletter will be trialled as a fortnightly publication, commencing in Term 3. After a period of time, we will ask for your feedback around this decision.

School Reports for Semester One will be issued on Wednesday 29th June to all students. Parent /teacher interviews will be conducted on Wednesday 20th July (Term 3 Week 1) for the K-10 school. All Interview times can be made online.

Thanks to the Parents and Friends Association (P&F) for a most enjoyable Trivia Night last Friday. The work of the association is very appreciated by the school. The new goal posts, purchased by the P&F have arrived. A working bee in the near future will see them upright on the oval, complete with protective pads.
