Extend After School Care at Kilvington Grammar School

Our Recap
Welcome back to everyone for Term 2. After seeing everyone this past week, I was a bit jealous of all the great fun and adventures that everyone got up to!
However, that isn’t to say that we didn’t have a lot of fun here at our Holiday Program.
We were lucky enough to go on excursions, venturing out to Werribee Zoo and Task Works. The zoo was the highlight for many of the kids, especially getting an up-close-and-personal look at the rhinos, hippos and giraffes (just to name a few!) on the African Safari.
Task Works challenged the children’s problem solving skills with some tricky team tasks as well as puzzles. A few of the kids even said it was the best excursion they’d ever been on which was really pleasing to hear!
We were also very lucky to have two incursions during the break. In the first incursion we got active by putting a new take on some classic outdoor games. Some of our new favourite games as a result are now Noodle Tag and Sack Races. The second incursion took us on a musical journey into the heart of African music. We all got to learn how to play the bongos like pros! We learnt some great songs, chants and dances.
The rest of the days were filled with great art and craft, sport, cooking and science experiments. We had a blast making our very own kaleidoscopes, healthy chocolate biscuits, rice paper rolls, exploring the colours of autumn, loom bands as well as setting up our own pizza shop (imaginative).
To end the holidays, we had a colossal Easter egg hunt on The Green. The Easter Bunny, however, did not consider that the birds do in fact like to nibble on Easter eggs, so we had to be very quick and careful as to not get into a fight with the birds over the chocolate!
During the first week of term we eased our way back into the routine of it all. We spent much of our time outside playing dodgeball and some Indigenous games to run off some of the tiredness of our first days back. We also conducted a science experiment where we attempted to make our own jelly from scratch and then make it in the shape of a drink bottle to trick our parents!
