The JLC students celebrate Book Week with their very own Literacy Carnival

It’s been a very busy and fun time in the Junior Learning Community this term! This week saw both our Junior Literacy Carnival and College Athletics Carnival, both events actively engaging our students in physical and leadership roles.

On Tuesday 25th over 100 primary school students from Bayswater Primary and Bayswater West Primary visited the College for a day of activities inspired by Book Week. Our Year 7 and 8 students were grouped into five rotations, creating fun activities for the younger students. Mrs La Fontaine supervised a group of our best young cooks to prepare a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, Mr Hill oversaw a band of Robin Hood’s for archery, Mr Webster and his superheroes used ICT to create comics, Mr Crozier, Mr Mackney and their crew directed a series of fractured fairytales and Ms Bracken’s and Ms Collom’s team of creatives sent the primary school students on a quest to save the world’s books from the evil Count Bookular. Congratulations to our Year 7 and 8 students who did a wonderful job creating and running the activities, and for participating with such enthusiasm. A big congratulations also to Mr Crozier for winning our ‘Best Teacher Costume’ award dressed as a mullet and flannelette clad Fairy Godmother.
