Tennis Reflection

Interschool Tennis

Friday, the 4th of March saw four students from Staughton participate in interschool tennis held at the Sunbury tennis courts. These four students formed Staughton’s senior boys’ entry into the tournament against the following schools: Gisborne, Kurunjang, Sunbury and Sunbury Downs. Each opposition team presented different skill levels and strengths for the Staughton team to encounter and hopefully overcome.

The day featured some great tennis match play with all players on both sides putting as much as they could into every shot in the hope of winning for their school and such determination resulted in both wins and losses. After a long and tiresome day of tennis, the senior boys walked away with an even two wins and two losses, which was more than admirable, and reflected both the players’ spirit and resolve but also their room for further improvement.

Being one of the players representing Staughton College on the day, I can say that it was a valiant effort from all players and while we didn’t win as many as the leading school, everyone involved still tried as hard as they could to make the games interesting and enjoyable to both play in and to watch. Overall, it was a good day away from the usual study and schoolwork and Staughton was well represented by the talented few that participated.
