Principal's Report

Principal’s Report
As we approach the holidays, I would like to congratulate the school community on a fantastic first term. Our Year 7 students have settled in well to the routines of secondary life. At the other end of the school, Year 12 students have been taking up the opportunity of lunchtime and after school extension classes. Across the school, we have continued to work on the development of ‘Staughton Effective Learners’. Tutorial Groups have been running smoothly, with literacy and wellbeing being the focus of the junior school and study tasks the focus of the senior school. Strong foundations have been laid for all students in 2016 to reach our goal of more than one year’s learning growth in a year. I encourage you to take the opportunity to be a partner in this goal with our teachers and your children by attending the Parent, Student and Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, the 20th of April.
We have also had a terrific term for student activities; it is a real priority of ours to provide a range of different activities to cater for students’ interests and passions. The ‘S Factor’ and various activities for Cultural Diversity Week are two recent examples. Students have also been enthusiastically participating in a variety of sports and lunchtime clubs, as well as public speaking and debating. Initial student meetings for this year’s Variety Show have also been happening; this should again be a highlight of the Staughton Calendar in Term Three.
Please note that school photos will be distributed in Week 1 of next term.
I hope everyone in the Staughton Community has an enjoyable and safe holiday. I look forward to continuing our positive start to the year in Term Two.
