CICO

CICO
The Check in/Check out (CICO) program is a mentoring based program, which is aimed at assisting students to reach their academic potential. Students are approached to be part of the program by Learning Coordinators for various reasons, including teacher referrals, report results or an identified need for further differentiation of instruction.
Students in the program have weekly learning conferences with each of their teachers where they discuss their learning progress and goals. Summaries of these conferences are shared with parents and we encourage parents to speak with students about their learning progress.
Sign-off is a process at Staughton that encourages all students to pass all learning outcomes in Years 10, 11 and 12. Once all learning outcomes are satisifed, their subject teachers sign off students. Years 10 and 11 are provided a “redemption” period at the end of exams. Students who are signed off leave after their exam is finished (usually at the start of lunch) and those students who are not signed off attend afternoon classes and complete overdue work.
Times for sign-off, exams and redemption
Year 10: Sign-off sheets are due Wednesday, 1st of June (Week 8). Exams and redemption are at the end of Week 9 and the start of Week 10.
Year 11: Sign-off sheets are due Friday, 10th of June (Week 9). Exams and redemption are Week 10 (15-17th of June).
Year 12: Sign-off sheets are due Friday, the 17th June (Week 10). There is no official mid-year exam period for year 12s.
