The Whitten Leadership Project

The Whitten Leadership Project

The Whitten Project is an opportunity that allows young teenagers to gain confidence and skills in leadership, teamwork and communication that could make them possible leaders for the future. It was established in 2013 and is run by the Western Bulldogs.

I was nominated to join and to see if I could get into the program and luckily enough, I got in! We had an information night to discuss the program and any questions we had and then on Saturday, the 1st of May was our first workshop at the Reach Foundation. The Reach Foundation is a group that helps teenagers find who they are and become who they want to be. It was awkward at first because I am the only one from Staughton, but this is a learning curve for me. We did typical cheesy activities just to get to know each other, and then we got into some leadership and motivation projects and games.

There were points where it got pretty emotional, light-hearted and even funny. The Whitten Project has so far been excellent and I can’t wait for what else it has to offer.
