OutLoud Eco! Slam Poetry

The EAL department is very proud of our two students Maria Villareal and Trang Nguyen from Year 10 who represented our school at the OutLoud Eco!Slam Slam. Maria and Trang were selected last year during a Year 9 poetry slam competition to represent the school. They competed during the OutLoud Eco!Slam competition at the beautiful Botanical Gardens against students from schools across Victoria. The judges had a stupendously hard task in selecting two teams who were going to the finals at Melbourne Writers Festival, and in the end selected three. 

Maria and Trang received a special mention for their beautiful poem Remember that is about following your dreams. They made their teacher Ms Pajalic cry with pride at their passion and joy as they performed. We are so very proud of our Maria and Trang for their excellence and in representing the school with such pride. Their performance will be available on the OutLoud Eco!Slam YouTube Channel in a few weeks time.

The EAL team wishes to thank Vikki Bunce for her hard work in running the Year 9 Slam Poetry competition and giving our students the opportunity to participate in the heats. In 2018 St Albans Secondary College won the OutLoud Eco!Slam Poetry competition and we look forward to many more amazing performances by our students in the years to come.
