Birchip Visit

From 2017 one of SASC’s SEAL classes has corresponded with Birchip P – 12 School. Birchip is located about halfway between Melbourne and Mildura, quite close to the Mallee. This year (2019), Year 9 SEAL students and teachers invited the Year 9 Birchip students to visit SASC, and we were happy they all accepted the offer to visit our school. Twelve students (the entire class) and two teachers were with us from Monday to Wednesday.

It was a whirlwind three days, but we were able to display some of the amazing programs we offer students, and our students were able to demonstrate the skills they have been honing in classes. SASC’s VCAL students planned and implemented a variety of ‘get to know you’ activities on the first day. The VET Hospitality program provided an amazing three-course dinner on the second night. Birchip students and host families were able to attend the MAC Performance on Tuesday night.

The success of the program was dependent upon the support we received from staff, students and parents, especially those individuals and families that hosted students. Amy and I wish to thank you all for opening your homes to our friends from the country. It has been a valuable learning experience for us all.
