Sports Report

Term 2 has been a very busy term.

Highlights include:

Badminton

Senior girls badminton won through to the regional finals - a special mention to the Year 8 boys who lost their badminton final.

Netball

Across the school we fielded 10 teams and congratulate the Year 9 boys team who went through their competition undefeated playing with only 5 players.

Basketball

3 on 3 Games - The school fielded 18 teams in this competition & the senior girls made it through to the semi final missing the final by a point scored after the buzzer.  All teams competed well and several teams were unlucky not to make semi finals.

Victorian College Championships - 15 teams have competed or are about to compete in this competition.  Senior girls have won through to the State Finals and the Year 9 boys lost in the semi finals.  We are hoping for an invite to the State Finals after losing the semi.

Cross Country

The school sent 14 students to the District Cross Country with 4 students running well enough to get invited to the Regional Final.

Pierre de Coubertin Award

The Pierre de Coubertin Awards are named after the founder of the modern Olympic Games.  The awards take place on an annual basis and recognise senior secondary students who demonstrate values which are consistent with the Olympic Movement through participation in sporting activities.  At Fairhills we would like to congratulate Lauren Robinson on being nominated and then win the award.

Congratulations

Last Friday Lauren Robinson, Amy Roncali and Dylan Mace attended the MCG for the Olympic Academy and Pierre de Coubertin Awards Function.

The students were able to mix with a number of Olympic Champions, visit the National Sport Museum and participate in a number of activities with another 150 students in attendance.

Later in the day Lauren was presented with her award along with students from other schools who display the Olympic ideals in his or her sport while at school.
