Performing Arts Update

So much has been happening lately down in the Performing Arts Center!

“Anything Goes”

Our cast and production team of our musical “Anything Goes” have been working hard at rehearsals three times each week to get our show looking fabulous. We had an incredibly successful (and fun!) camp at Oasis Camp recently and spent a lot of time refining lines, choreography and blocking out more of the show. Our students also really enjoyed trivia and the dance party! A big thank you to our production team; Ms Sarah Power, Ms Triana Meagher, Mrs Suzi Pedler plus our MD Mr Ben Heels and our rehearsal pianist Mr Isaac Mouskovias. We really appreciate your time and effort.

The sets, costumes and props are starting to look amazing, and our fabulous team have been working hard to get everything painted, created and sewn together. We have held a couple of working bees and Sunday afternoon painting sessions and our cast have been a huge help in getting the sets painted. A big thanks to all of our parents and grandparent helpers who have given up so much of their time to create. A huge thank you must go to the Mummery family and the Eagle family who have both been working around the clock to create everything. We really appreciate the extra mile.

Aladdin - The Musical

Recently we organized a group booking for “Aladdin – The Musical” and over 60 people from our Fairhills community, including students, parents and staff, went into the city to view this amazing musical. We were all in awe of the show, especially the costumes, sets and soundtracks, which totally sparkled and shined.

VET Dance Industry Day

Last Friday our VET Dance students spent the day at Ministry of Dance undertaking an Industry Day. Organized by our RTO Ausdance, this full day of workshops focused on improving practical techniques and undertaking a mock audition. The girls worked really hard all day and I’d like to thank them for their dedication.

DanceFair

For each weekend of May and into June we held “DanceFair”, our annual interschool dance competition for all students from Grade 5 right through to Year 12. The season was very successful with some excellent dancing showcased. All of the performers had an excellent time, and we would like to thank each of the schools that participated for dedicating their time and expertise to this program. Hopefully in 2018 we can have even more Fairhills High students participating and win back the “Overall Secondary” title, which, deservingly, went to Ringwood Secondary College this year.
