MESSAGES FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS
PREP - YEAR 2
Hello to all Collingwood College families
My name is Margaret Doucas, I am the current Acting Assistant Principal of the Early Years (Prep - Year 2). I will be working in this role for all of Term 1 2018. It's an exciting position to work in and I feel privileged to have been chosen as the person to cover Sam while he works with the Upper Primary and Senior School teachers and students. I’ve felt very welcomed by the school community. I do look forward to meeting everyone, particularly the wonderful students, some of which I have already had great conversations with.
I hope to chat to as many of you as possible!

YEARS 3 - 9
Happy New School Year!
It was wonderful to have our students return from holidays on Tuesday morning. We loved hearing the holiday stories that varied from having time to rest, getting some extra sleep, through to opportunities to go away, be with family and friends, or to just get some things done at home.
Our new Prep students were off to a flying start on Thursday. Thank you to the many parents who came along during the first week – we love sharing the excitement of a new year and the journey of your child’s growth and development with you.
A special welcome to the new families and students that are joining our school community this year. We were excited to have in excess of 25 new students start in the Primary School and close to 40 new students in Secondary.
Please remember that you are always welcome to talk to your child’s teacher if you have concerns about the first weeks of school.
***INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC***
We still have places left in INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC and have extended the enrolment period for another week (closing 9th Feb) . Please contact Claire in the office if you are having limited success via compass. Claire’s email is Gibson.claire.l@edumail.vic.gov.au
We offer Instrumental Music to all students in Year 3 and above. Instruments being offered include Violin, Viola, Piano/Keyboard, Cello, Guitar, Voice, Drums and Woodwind. We have a fantastic team of instructors, not to mention great facilities and events to show off how wonderful we are.
Collingwood College will be making a special announcement about our new Music Coordinator next week. The music area has had some modifications and an office established over the holiday period. In the meantime, I would like to thank Chris Doquile for her hard work in bringing the program together in 2018.
I would just like to finish by reminding you that it is imperative that we have up‐to‐date correct contact details for all of our students and parents.
In case of an emergency, current mobile numbers for parents and emergency contacts are required for notification. We also request an email address for each parent so we can communicate with you more effectively. Please make sure you keep admin in the loop regarding any changes.

Hello and welcome to the 2018 school year.
As an experienced teacher at Collingwood College, I am looking forward to my role as Acting Assistant Principal - Years 10-12 for Term 1. We have many exciting programs running. We will continue our valuable partnership with Fitzroy High School in the VCE program. In the weeks to come, please look out for my reports on pathways that our 2017 Year 12 students have chosen and more details of the 2018 programs.
