Classroom Helpers

We are all looking forward to again embracing the great assistance provided by Classroom Helpers at Holy Name.

Classroom helpers are made up of parents, grandparents and carers of our students, and assist the teachers in the classroom. Often they work with small groups of students to help with reading, writing or other classroom activities.

Classroom helpers are the strongest way to develop partnerships within our school community and enables us to maximise the support needed in individual classrooms to ensure that students are achieving their personal best.

If you would like to be a Classroom Helper this year, please respond to the Operoo form that will go out this Friday. Your assistance would be required on a regular basis and times will be negotiated primarily with individual teachers. A follow up training session will be held on Friday 17th February in the Conference Room, which is only required if you haven't previously done the training with us.

It is school policy that all classroom helpers hold a current Working with Children card. These forms are downloadable from the Department of Justice website (http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/)

Please note that as you are a volunteer, your card is free.

Curriculum Overviews

Last year, we started to post our unit overviews online using Class Dojo. Instead of getting one document per term, teachers will continue to give you an inside scoop into the work that your children are doing across the term.  This is a great way to chat to your children about what they have done in class on a more regular basis, and keep up to date with all the exciting learning that takes place. This year, we are switching over to Seesaw, so we ask that you are patient with us as we learn the platform and how to best use it to communicate our learning with you.
