Principal's Report

Report from our Principal: Duncan Arendse

Dear Parents, Friends and Father Arsenio,

What a year it has been. I am sure I am not the only one thinking this was going to be much easier this year. I was away last week with my second bout of Covid and I am grateful to Rachel and Judy who ran things in my absence.

I would like to acknowledge our departing staff members: Fran Miller, Gracie Smith, Lee Hodge, Andrea Frixou and Nicole Struthers. (Nicole informed me recently that she was departing and at the time of writing I am unable to confirm arrangements for LOTE in 2023.) Andrea, Gracie and Lee will still be seen from time to time as they are keen to undertake emergency teaching work at our school. I wish them all well and thank them for their service to our school.

Next year there will be changes to the school day in light of a new agreement struck in Victorian schools. Again at the time of writing this an agreement has not been reached in Catholic schools, however we have been informed that we need to allow for it to occur. These changes will slightly shorten the hours of face to face teaching time our staff undertake. Changes to the school day will cause minimal issues for parents. Further information will be emailed tomorrow.

Class lists are never easy to compile and I thank all staff who have taken hours to undertake the task. A number of factors are considered and chief amongst them is the support we can offer to each student when and where required. We do our best to meet reasonable requests however this is not guaranteed given the number of students involved. Thank you for your understanding.

It is with a sense of relief I wish you all the best for the upcoming Christmas period.

Have a good week

Duncan
