Picnic on the Paddock

A reminder to all our families that they are invited to join in a relaxed picnic on the oval (I think it looks more like a paddock than an oval) on Friday night. TheirCare are sponsoring the evening enabling all who join us a chance to relax and wind down. Bring along a chair, picnic rug and relaxed dinner. A sausage sizzle will be available. The evening starts at 5:00pm.

Stay tuned to Compass in case we need to postpone the event due to the weather.

Big Day Out - Tuesday 13 December

We are eager that no student miss out as they visit the movies on Tuesday 13 December. Prep to Year 2 students will be watching ‘Lyle Lyle Crocodile’ and the Year 3 to Year 6 students will be viewing ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish As Puss in Boots’. As ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’ is a PG rated movie we are asking parents of students in Years 3 to 6 to provide consent to watch the film. This can be completed quickly and easily on QKR!. Students who do not receive consent will attend ‘Lyle Lyle Crocodile’. it is important to note that there will be no supervision of students at school on this day.

While many of our Year 6 students will be attending their Year 7 orientation at government schools, some who are attending private education may still wish to attend.

Soirée Tonight

This afternoon at 4:00pm we are looking forward to hearing a wide range of our students perform at our afternoon soirée. This will be a showcase of the talents and ability of many of our students who have participated in the instrumentalist program over the year. While the afternoon is a great opportunity for students to perform in front of an audience, it is also a chance to celebrate their effort in bending their lips and fingers around a wide range of instruments.

Planning Week Next Week

Staff will be meeting to plan for 2023 next week. While this will result in a range of changes to timetables, the opportunity for teachers to gather prior to the end of the year will support students as they transition.

Orientation and Transition: Supporting Students Towards 2023

Orientation for our incoming Preps occurred this morning. It proved a valuable time for our new students to meet with their new buddies. Their final visit prior to the end of the year will be on’ Meet the Teacher’ day, Monday 12 December between 12:30pm-1:30pm. Here they will discover their new 2023 classmates and meet their teacher for next year.

Another whole school transition day happens today. This is another opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with the spaces and possible classmates for the coming year. While we wait for the ‘Meet the Teacher’ day on 12 December to introduce students to their 2023 classmates and meet their new 2023 teacher, our transition days are a chance for students to get to know other students and the areas they will be a part of.

Attendance Information

As we head towards the end of the year, we are eager to ensure our attendance data is up to date. There are a diverse range of reasons why students are unable to attend school and we encourage staff and parents to accurately record that information on Compass. This week a range of notes were sent home to parents encouraging them to review any unaccounted absences. Notes and reasons for student absences can easily be made on Compass or phoned through to the office.

A Grateful Thanks to our Volunteers

There was plenty of celebratory food laid on by staff for the volunteer morning tea thank you on Wednesday. The morning was an opportunity to thank all in our community who have been part of the volunteer brigade that has enabled us to achieve so much this year. Volunteers have been sighted in corridors reading with children, pruning bushes during working bees, sitting on and pushing lawn mowers, attending excursions and camps, cooking cakes or turning sausages, cataloguing books, washing lost property, blowing pathways, creating concert props and costumes …. and much, much more. Thank you to all who were present and to those who were unable to attend.

AED Installed in Foyer

A new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) has been purchased and installed in the foyer. An AED is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. It's a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, medical device that can analyse the heart's rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm. While we hope it hangs in the foyer simply to gain dust and remain unused, it provides another layer of safety in case of an emergency. All staff at Rosanna Primary School are required to complete CPR training annually. As part of this training, staff have been guided in the use of defibrillators in providing first aid care if required.

We recognise the significant contribution of all our staff this year. As we step into the new year we celebrate those who are taking leave that include Kate Arnot, Anita Simpson and Taya Eddie. We will be wishing Laura Hicks farewell as she travels to Western Australia.

Yesterday, we noted our sadness, that Matt Buckley will be taking up a new position elsewhere. Matt has formed deep connections over a long period with students and staff. While we will miss his gentle presence in our midst, we all wish him well as he begins his new role. We are confident that he will continue to enrich the people and the places he finds himself in the future.
