From Julie's Desk ....

15th December 2022

I cannot believe that it is the last full week of the school year. Congratulations to all students, families and CHPS staff. We have done it!  We have done a full year of schooling with no lockdowns.  We have got back into routines, learnt a lot of new things, participated in camps, excursions, incursions, sporting competitions, assemblies, camps, the colour run, Journey Tracks, Canteen days, book fairs, discos, Christmas Carols, and for our Year 6s, graduation.  What a full and rewarding year it has been!

On a personal note it has been a privilege to partner with many students, staff and families in 2022.  The thre- way partnership is so important in ensuring that the wellbeing, inclusion and educational needs of children are met. I would specifically like to ‘shout out’ to all of the Integration Aides and Cheyenne for their support in this space.

Masks

If anyone requires masks, either adult or children, we have a lot. Please visit the office to pick some up if you would like to.

Food for Families

Thanks so much to those who donated food to families finding themselves needing assistance this Christmas. I have firsthand experience working with such families throughout my career and know the amazing gratitude that they feel when they receive the gift of extra food at Christmas.

Uniform

At CHPS we pride ourselves on having all children wear school uniform.  If for some reason you are having difficulty financing the purchase of uniforms, please contact me early in 2023 for support.

Over the break

Christmas and holidays are portrayed in the movies as positive and happy.  I hope that this is the case for all of our CHPS community, but am also aware that for some people Christmas and the holidays are a time of sadness and/or challenge.  We are so fortunate to be in a country where we have access to many supports.  Please reach out to the below organisations in the event that you, your children, or someone you know needs support.

Lifeline – 13 11 14

Kids Helpline – 1800 55 1800

The Orange Door – 1800 271 150 - Family and Parenting Support

1800 RESPECT – 1800 737 732

Child Youth Mental Health Service – 1300 342 255

We wish you all the best for Christmas and the new year.

Until next time,

Julie Reid  -  Assistant Principal, Wellbeing and Inclusion
