Principal's message
December 2022
From me, Barney and all the staff at LHCS, we hope that students and their families have a wonderful summer break.
The past twelve months have been a challenging time for schools and for students, but we can look toward next year with genuine optimism. Students return on Monday, 30th January and we will be welcoming several new students to our school, many of whom came in to meet us during Step-Into 2023 Program and end of year activities.
Congratulations to Nim McIntyre who will be taking on the Learning Specialist position at the school in 2023, supporting a program of learning interventions to strengthen student outcomes.
Also, congratulations to Mike Palfrey, who is moving on to take up a position at Charles La Trobe College. Mike has been a valued member of the Wellbeing Team at LHCS Coburg for the past eighteen months and has provided students and staff with a range of support during this time. We wish Mike well in his new role.
If you, or a loved-one, is struggling over the school break, there are wellbeing supports available. Attached (below) is a list of key contacts and resources to support mental health.
We have recently engaged contractors to undertake improvement works at our Coburg campus. These improvements will help create a more comfortable and welcoming space for our students, staff and visitors.
Please note that in 2023, supervision of students will begin at 8:30am each day at both Richmond and Coburg. This is to ensure that school spaces can be adequately staffed and safely supervised as per Child Safe Standards. At the end of the school day supervision will be provided until 3:30pm.
