From the Principal
Dear families
As we approach the end of term we would like to share with you some of the highlights. At the start of the term we welcome families onsite for a community breakfast and open classrooms, to explore learning spaces and meet our 2023 educators. Students were so excited to show off their classrooms and their teachers! In Week 9 this was followed up with Parent Interviews all week for Preschool and School families and we thank you for the great attendance and participation in these.
This term we have welcomed many new enrolments, across a range of year levels, including a new group of students to our IELC. We now have a range of different aged students from a range of countries including Honduras and Eritrea.
At the upper end of the school, Blue building students have participated in an interschool athletics competition as well as aquatics and a Taste of High School in their first term as senior students. They will also have a visit from the Woodville High school Band this week, many of whom are ex-students of ours.
Continuing the theme of music this term included a visit by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra as students deepened their learning around music creating imagery; in this case representing the range of native birds we have in South Australia.
NAPLaN (National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy) was moved to Term 1 this year and was a new experience for our Year 3 and 5 students.
Work has continued on the upgrading of facilities and have included the installation of Groundsplash play circuits in our yard as well as some initial redesigning plans for the Kitchen Garden.
