Principal's Report

Dear St A's Community,

Welcome back to another school year of learning, fun and excitement!  I trust that you all spent some meaningful time with your families, over the festive season!   A big welcome to all of our new families and students!  I hope that starting at our school has been smooth and seamless for you all.  A new year brings new challenges for all of us, so just be mindful that some of our students need a little extra time to settle in.   This is perfectly normal.

Today we  find ourselves at the end of our students’ second full week back. While the initial buzz of excitement may have reduced, this has been replaced by the lovely hum of learning as I visit classrooms each day. It’s lovely to see students engaged and happy.

On that note it has been amazing to see all of our new preps join our school and begin their primary education.  We have had many smiling faces and excited preps students to begin their time at school.  I have been in and out of the prep classrooms and it is wonderful to see the school routines being followed and introduced.  I look forward to watching our prep cohort develop academically and grow as learners.

We welcome 2 new staff members to our LSO Team - Ms Michelle into the Grade 1 area and Mrs Rose into the Prep area.  Having additional support in the classrooms is beneficial to all of our students.

SEESAW:

Please make sure that you have signed up to access your child/ren's Seesaw accounts.  Seesaw is an app that allows parents to see their child's learning in real time and insight into what is happening in classrooms on a daily basis.  As the students learn more, they will engage in interactive activities that are designed to show case their learning.  Seesaw has endless potential when all the features are unpacked.

If you need help with accessing your child/ren's Seesaw accounts, please contact the your child/ren's classroom teacher.

PUPPY:

Yesterday our new resident wellbeing dog Ziggy Frances Augustine came to school and visited all of the students in their classrooms.  It was fantastic to find out that within all the classrooms - the students have learn the 3 key rules and were able to implement those key rules when Ziggy came to visit.  I was super impressed how the students were able to continue their learning and engage with their lesson, even when Ziggy was in their classroom.  Ziggy is still in training and is continuing to learn everyday.  I can tell you all that when I took her home last night she was exhausted!   Ziggy will be back next Thursday and will increase her time at school as her training progresses.

Take care and God Bless

Carrie Rodda
