Captains Corner

by Lexie, Isobel, Joshua & Weihan

Joshua - Finally, as holidays come closer and school is going to end (this is my last captain’s corner, wow), it’s time I look back at what we have done, and all the many memories and friends we’ve made in the end. Finishing and moving on to a different school where I’ll meet different friends and different teachers is quite scary, and I am extremely thankful for the wonderful times we were able to have like Canberra Camp, the Apple Workshop or practising the Graduation Dance that if we were in Covid years we may have been unable to do. I especially enjoyed Canberra Camp exploring places like the Royal Australian Mint where we got to see where coins were made or just on the bus rides where we chatted and listened to music. The Apple Workshop was also fun because we were in the pristine place of the Apple store, and got to use the ipads that were available to code and to draw. What we have been doing recently is preparing for our graduation, learning dances provided by Dance Curriculum, which we had been formerly introduced to in the NYLD early this year.

Isobel - As most of you know, the Year 2022 is coming to an end and all of the Year 6s will be graduating. We have all had a great year, and I have made many amazing memories with my friends. I was really happy to be in Miss P, now Mrs. M’s class for year six, and she has made the year really fun and exciting for all of us, organizing beep tests and sausage sizzles, and once she even brought her dog to school. I also really enjoyed being one of the four School Captains this year, working with Josh, Lexi, and Weihan, running assemblies and writing newsletters. I have learnt a lot about teamwork and friendship from being with them, and I will really miss them next year. I am so thankful for what she and the other teachers I have had have done for me over all of my school years, and I will really miss them and my friends next year. Overall, this year has been amazing, and I will never forget the fun I had at DPS.

Lexi - Primary school is a one of a kind, truly special experience. When you walk through the gate, there’s this thrilling feeling of anticipation because you never know what’s going to happen. I want to thank the DPS community for being so supportive and just genuinely amazing people.  I’m going to miss the funny and innovative people I met along the way. I will be forever grateful for the positive impact that has been made on my life. Graduating primary school is hard because we are saying goodbye to all we have ever known. But to be completely honest, the best part about moving on is never forgetting where you came from. DPS will always be like my first home but I’m excited to move on to high school and expand my educational horizons. I can’t wait to come back and visit the DPS staff because they are a fundamental part of my day to day life. The Doncaster Primary School community has truly become my second family and I can’t wait to see the amazing things DPS has in store for the future generation.
