TUTOR  LEARNING INITIATIVE 2021

The 2020 school year was an extraordinary and challenging one for every school community. Many Echuca East students spent much of Terms 2 and 3 last year learning remotely and our children and their families made an exceptional effort to provide continuity of teaching and learning to our students during this time.

In 2021, the Victorian Government has introduced the Tutor Learning Initiative (TLI) to enable schools to support students who need extra assistance with their learning which may have been disrupted last year. This funding was for 6 months but EEPS have prioritised the program with additional funding so it can run for the year. Students have been selected to receive this additional support based on their achievement data and other measures of learning, that have indicated their expected learning progress may have been impacted by the remote and flexible learning due to COVID-19 in 2020.

At Echuca East we will be focusing on both Literacy and Numeracy with four experienced teachers fulfilling this role of the tutors. The teachers who will be working regularly with the students in small group tutoring support are Mrs Grant (Level 4), Mrs Mangiameli (Level 3), Mrs Hill (Level 2) and Mrs Holmfield (Level 1).

These teachers will work with the student’s classroom teacher to minimise disruptions and complement the lessons taking place in classroom. Groups of selected students will change throughout the year as their progress is monitored.  If your child is to be provided with this extra assistance you will receive a pamphlet outlining their involvement in the coming weeks.

We look forward to being able to support many Easties on their future learning.
