STAFF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING DAY

The humble school hall was transformed into a conference-like event space for the Staff Professional Learning Day on Wednesday, 3rd March 2021.

Our guest speaker, Mr Glen Pearsall, a leading secondary teacher and an acclaimed presenter in development of classroom teachers across Australia, explored targeted feedback strategies for meeting each student at their precise need. Over 75 teachers engaged in a 3 hour professional masterclass on how differentiation in the classroom, and within our curriculum design, can make classroom content accessible to all students. Followed up with afternoon sessions to consider everyday practices and select techniques that can be emphasised or trialled as quick as the next day.

Teachers were energetic and responsive to sharing pedagogical practices and build on their learning. Unbeknownst to our students, many were targeted on their return to school with some subtle, and some not so subtle, changes to the instruction they received.
