Year 4 Spotlight

Mt Evelyn Camp

Last week, Year 4 set off to Mt Evelyn for their very first school camp. The focus of the camp was for students to be independent, build resilience, and work as part of a team. The range of activities and experiences gave the students the chance to demonstrate these skills. Here are some of their highlights.

• I liked the giant swing because it was terrifying and fun. My second favourite activity was the flying fox because we got to do a run up and go really fast. I also liked the cabins because I was with my friends. The food was also really good! ~ Sid C, 4B
• My favourite activity was definitely the giant swing because you went really high, then suddenly you dropped down into a swing. It was scary for a second but then it was so fun! I also really liked the meals, they were really delicious and healthy. ~ Iris H, 4B
• One of my highlights was when I pulled the rope and went down the giant swing, it was really scary but fun. All of the activities were really amazing and I liked being in a cabin with my friends. ~ Liam W, 4B
• I liked the giant swing a lot. I liked it because it was something that got your blood pumping! When you get to the top it was terrifying because when you tug the rope it went WHOOSH! All the activities were fun, my second favourite was hut building. ~ Isabel W, 4A
• I loved the giant swing. I was nervous at first, and when I got to the top I was scared and didn’t know what to do. Then when I pulled the rope I felt my stomach drop. I felt relieved at the end that I did the full 18 metres. I really liked the animal encounter activity because I got to have a snake around my neck. ~ Spencer H, 4A
• My favourite activity at school camp was the giant swing. It was really fun because you can go really high on it, but then at the same time it is sort of freaky but fun. I also really liked holding the frog at the Animal Encounter. ~ Olivia M, 4B
• My favourite thing about camp was the giant swing because going up high was really fun and swinging down was even more fun! I also like the Animal Encounter, mainly because we got to touch a green frog, a stick insect and a turtle called Squirt. ~ Rupert S, 4C
• My highlight from camp was the giant swing because I challenged myself to go all the way to the top. I also liked the Animal Encounter because I touched animals I haven’t touched before. ~ Emi D, 4C
• My favourite thing at camp was free time because I got play with my friends, make new friends and be in the outdoors. My second favourite thing was the giant swing because when you go to the top you can see around for miles! ~ Pierre S, 4C
