Class Work

Both K-2 and 3-6 have had an awesome start to the year. We are busy establishing routines, learning new skills and getting used to our new classes.

The K-2 class are reading the novel Garden of the Purple Dragon by Carole Wilkinson this term as well as learning nursery rhymes such as Jack and Jill, Three Little Kittens and 1,2,3,4,5, Once I Caught a Fish Alive. Not only are these rhymes fun, they really help with reading and spelling skills. The children learn about rhyme and patterns in language. K-2 are also learning and revising sounds (after the COVID interrupted year last year) and have so far covered b, k,d and f and will be moving onto g, h, j, l and m.

Years 3 to 6 have had an awesome start to the year. They are learning to take pride in their work presentation (the Handwriting books are amazing) and also developing independent reading skills with Reading Box activities. Math skills are being developed through hands on activities and games as well as the introduction of Mental Maths activities and some text books. Years 3 to 6 are reading the award winning Australian novel His Name was Walter by renowned author Emily Rodda. This has quite mature themes and wonderful language to share.
