Principal's Report

Remote Learning 3.0

I would like to thank everyone in the Marlborough community for how well we were able to pivot back into a short 3 day period of remote learning at such short notice.

While we would love to know it will not ever happen again, it is more likely than not that we will find ourselves having periods like this across 2021. Our approach when this happens will be similar to this week. Our Specialist Team have already put together learning tasks for the next lockdown which will form Day 1 of any lockdown at short notice. We believe this is a good approach as it provides families with some learning activities for the first day and then provides classroom teachers with the opportunity to take that day to prepare suitable learning tasks for Day 2 and beyond. Depending on how long any future lockdown might be, we then have a few approaches prepared. Should it be a couple of days, such as this time, then tasks will be as they were this week. Should it be longer then we will move back into Remote Learning as it was in 2020, with Webex sessions, work being submitted etc.

As always I will endeavour to keep families as updated as possible when a lockdown is called and throughout a lockdown.

Sensory Garden

I had a meeting with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA), Design Core Architects and City Living Property Services on Tuesday (over Webex) to finalise arrangements for the construction of our Sensory Garden. Works are now due to commence on March 23rd and conclude in early June. This is a very exciting project happening at our school and while during construction there will be additional issues to contend with such as access to parts of the school grounds, we are very much looking forward to its competition.
