Year 1 are learning about Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama who is sometimes called ‘the princess of polka dots'. Although she makes lots of different types of art – paintings, sculptures, performances and installations – they have one thing in common, DOTS! We had a lot of fun painting different sized dots. We are learning about colour, shape and patterns while having a dotty time!

Andy Goldsworthy Inspired Natural Sculptures

Some of our talented students were inspired to use natural materials to create a 3D sculpture using the work of Andy Goldsworthy as inspiration.

Who is Andy Goldsworthy?

Andy Goldsworthy is a British artist, known for his sculptures and photography.

He is an environmentalist, which is someone who wants to protect the environment around them.

Andy makes sculptures with natural materials around the world.

He has made them in forests, cities, lakes and fields. They are known as land art.
