Point Cook College Library News

Hello Parents and Guardians,

We have a lot of exciting news to share from the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) which is up and running again this year!

It’s very exciting to see all the eager grade 1/2 students coming in to the Library to share in reading some awesome stories together; and experiencing borrowing a variety of picture books, chapter books and non fiction books.

As the Preps get settled, we will be expanding the Library sessions to all Prep classes and hopefully other year levels eventually too. It is so lovely to see all the students happy faces when they find their favourite book or a brand new wonder.

There have been boxes of shiny new arrivals coming into the LRC, students and teachers have been busy filling in the Library “Wishlist”- getting these out on the shelf for borrowing is one of my favourite parts of the job.

Term 1 Scholastic Book Club was a big success- with students and staff spending a total of $1200 and getting out Library a massive $350 in book rewards-these will also be arriving shortly. Thank you for all your support!

The Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge will be going ahead this year, and will begin in March and run until September. Keep your eyes peeled for updates.

The library is constantly expanding it’s book collection- if any families are doing a book clear out please keep us in mind; we would love to accept any donations that may come our way.

The students favourite books this month include Aaron Blabey ‘s series ‘The Bad Guys’, Anh Do’s “Werido”, Dav Pilkey’s “Dog Man” and Zack Zombie’s “Diary of A Minecraft Zombie’.

Looking forward to another month of discovering and sharing more fun books with all the students!
