Many universities have early entry pathway courses to their degrees and scholarships. Part of the application process often includes the requirement to also provide examples of community service, sporting achievements and involvement in the Arts. Students are recognised for their voluntary roles, activities in social justice, school leadership or service, parish or church support, sports, arts/performing arts and culture. Sporting achievements may also include a community service component, such as fundraising, coaching or club management.
CAS is designed to strengthen and extend students’ personal and interpersonal learning from the PYP and MYP. It is organised around the three strands of creativity, activity and service (CAS). Participation in these three strands, particularly service, is also looked on favourably by employers.
Visit the IBO to learn more about the importance of CAS.
