Grade 3/4 Students

Celebrating our tremendous Threes and fabulous Fours !

3/4A - Miss Lee

The students in 3/4A love to add challenges to their ‘hands on’ learning whenever they can.  Here Liam, Charli and Ariana are determining the value of their names by constructing their names in place value blocks and adding the place value totals together. Would Ariana win because she had the greatest number of letters in her name?  Well, not if Liam had anything to do with it, as he added more letters to his investigation.  Eli then turned the focus of the challenge by suggesting that the winner should be the person who could make the smallest value with their name – a great way to turn the challenge to his advantage.  What a great session 3/4A full of smiles and great learning.

3/4B - Miss Brook

Top Ten Mathematics is in full swing in 3/4B! The students explored all of the ‘nicknames’ that we can give numbers using MAB. We discussed making numbers in their simplest form, then substituted MAB for other MAB, but making sure we keep our number at the same value. It’s tricky stuff but they nailed it!

3/4C -  Mr Lewis

The students have been busy writing one another’s biographies. This is Kaylee’s biography written by her good friend Mikaela.

This is Mikaela’s vocabulary work. She was brainstorming synonyms for the word ’said’.

3/4D - Mr Mitch

During the week students completed a character trait quiz. This encouraged them to explore and appreciate the various personalities within 3/4D (Finn, Isobel, Lachie and Sebastian).

Students also began writing a biography piece about another student within 3/4D. The students progressed through the "Five Stages of Writing" (planning, writing, revising, editing and publishing) and have submitted some wonderful pieces (Thanks, Isla!).

3/4E - Ms Margarita

To promote wellbeing and connection, 3/4E begin each morning with Circle Time. Students have been running this themselves since Week 2- they choose a new circle leader each day and then, as a team, select their greeting, positive primer, question/goal and wondering. They then finish with a reflection on what went well and what they can work on the next day. Students in 3/4E have said the Circle Time gets them ready for learning because they feel connected, happy, excited, listened to and positive about the day.
