Principal's Report

Acting Principal - Julie Hommelhoff

Assistant Principal -Anthea Mathers

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another busy week here at ETRS. There has been lots happening in the classrooms, with the teachers continuing to say how well the students are doing with their reading. It was so lovely to see many students acknowledged with a 25 night Reading Award last week at assembly. I know some students are eagerly counting down till they get their 50 night’s award as they get to choose a book from the school at this milestone.

School Council meetings will be held on a Monday this year.

Family Picnic

What a wonderful night! Congratulations to ETRS / ETRSS on a very successful Family Picnic event Tuesday night. It was wonderful to meet so many families, siblings, community members and witness the performances provided on the night. The completion of Stage 2 has been really exciting and is the end of a long journey for this community, yet is the beginning of many positive relationships in the future.

Traffic

We are continuing to talk with students in relation to road safety.  We have noticed before and after school that Wilkinson Drive is getting busier and busier. There are many students that are taking risks when crossing the road. If parents are dropping children off, we encourage you to walk them across the road to ensure their safety. With the noise and busy traffic, students are hesitating and this could end up in an accident.

We also have a number of students riding their bikes/scooters without a helmet and taking risks at the roundabouts. Please have a chat with your child about ensuring their safety. Helmets are compulsory when riding bikes and scooters.

COVID 19 Restriction Update

You are still able to accompany your child/ren during drop off and pick up times inside the school grounds. Please feel free to bring your child/ren into the classroom and collect them from the grounds at the end of the day. If you need to be in the school for longer than 15 minutes, please make your way to the office to sign in.

Parents and visitors attending the school are encouraged to wear masks when 1.5 m distance cannot be maintained.   A fitted mask must be worn when using indoors spaces and when outside where a distance of 1.5 m cannot be maintained.

Children under 12 years of age and students at primary school are not required to wear face masks.

Unfortunately assemblies remain restricted to school staff and students only at this stage.

ETRS Swimming Carnival

On Thursday the 12th of March, we will be hosting the 2021 ETRS School Swimming Carnival at the Moama Pool. This date was changed due to the Covid lock-down. Students in Grade 3 -6 will have the opportunity to participate. Students must be able to swim a minimum of 25 m to compete. Students must complete 50 m without stopping in order to qualify for the inter-school level. Parents and friends are welcome to attend subject to Covid restrictions at the time. The event will begin at 9:30 am and conclude at 1:30 pm at the Moama Pool.

Helmets

Just a friendly reminder that all children who are travelling to school via bike or scooter are required by law to wear a helmet. Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated.

Dates to remember:

Monday 8 March – Public Holiday

Friday 12 March – Swimming Carnival in Moama

Respect, Inclusion, Resilience, Responsibility, Academic Excellence

Enjoy the weekend!
