Dear Parents and Carers,
The Premier, Mr Andrews, today announced a significant easing of COVID-19 restrictions. You can read his announcement, which means most restrictions will be lifted for fully vaccinated people, from 11.59 pm today, here.
He said the easing, based on the advice of the Chief Health Officer, was possible because Victoria would reach the 90 per cent double dose milestone for eligible people in the coming days.
His announcement includes a number of references related to schools. We expect more detailed information from the Department of Education and Training and we will share this with you as soon as we receive it.
Relating to schools, Mr Andrews said masks will still be required for primary school staff and visitors and for students in Years 3 to 6. Students in Years 7-12 will no longer be required to wear masks. We do understand, however, if there are families who may want to continue this practice.
As there are moments that students in Years 7 to 12 levels mix with younger students, all students must carry a mask with them at all times while at school. This is to ensure that when they have entered a space such as the Discovery Centre that they can put on a mask for the protection of the younger students.
All bus users from Years 3-12 will also be required to wear their mask while they are on the bus as bus users range in ages from Prep to Year 12.
We will continue to provide you with further information as soon as this becomes available.
Kind regards,
Lance Davidson
Deputy Principal
We want to continue to emphasise that the health and wellbeing of our entire school community is of primary importance to us. Ensuring we minimise the negative impact on the students’ education is equally important.
