TCC News

Welcome from the Principal
Hi everyone!
I do welcome back all of our families to the new school year and particularly all our new families – there are quite a few of you!
If you’ve been here a while and have had a chance to drive into the carpark this term, you would have noticed some physical changes such as the cover over the waiting area at Kiss n Drop, more painting and our new Pre-Kindergarten classroom and play area. Further inland, Year 11 and 12 students are now enjoying their new Year Stage 6 indoor/outdoor Zone including their quiet study room, microwaves, toasters and recharging stations! The new Hospitality Kitchen is just about ready for handover and this will allow our students to learn and practise in a real, commercial kitchen.
Behind the scenes, staff continue to work hard. We have a new computer management system which has taken a lot of time and effort to implement. Stage and Faculty Coordinators are leading their teams on action research projects in which they collaboratively address improved learning. We have been fortunate to have received a literacy and numeracy grant with which we can employ tutors to work with students in small groups. These are just a couple of important activities occurring out of sight but which bring great benefit.
Our great God is also constantly at work behind the scenes, doing great things for His good purposes. A wonderful verse in the Bible is that our God is one who “never slumbers nor sleeps” (Psalm 121:4). It’s reassuring to know that God never takes His eyes off us, not for a second.
May God bless you richly in 2021.

New Staff
We have welcomed the following new staff to the College in 2021.
Rebekah Woolnough is our new Student Services officer and has come from Taree and District Preschool. Rebekah will be focused on assisting our students. Rebecca enjoys camping adventures with her puppy and DIY projects.
On Front Desk, Kathy McKay will be the friendly face and your first point of call. Kathy has commenced this week and comes to us with a wealth of customer service experience. Kathy has spent the last 31 years in the banking sector and having a sea change coming to TCC. Kathy loves cooking and cooking shows, working on her beef cattle farm with her husband and having coffee at some of the Manning Valley's best cafes.
Mathew Colville has joined our maintenance team and has the responsibility of looking after our new Primary Precinct Building. We welcome Mathew to the team.
New Teaching Staff
My name is Lisa Palmer and I am really excited about joining the TCC community this year as a teacher of HSIE and English as well as being the HSIE Co-Ordinator.
I grew up and studied in Sydney before being fortunate to have taught in a number of schools both in NSW and overseas. I have taught in South Western Sydney at Liverpool Boys’ High, on Lake Macquarie at both Belmont and Charlton Christian Colleges, and in the Hunter Valley at St Phillip’s Christian College. I even had a 5-year stint teaching in London where I met my husband, Stu. My most recent school was MVAC which brought me and my family to the beautiful Manning Valley in January 2019. I love travelling to places which I have read about or studied, gardening and reading and watching crime fiction – I am a huge Agatha Christie fan. I look forward to meeting you!
Gaylene Mc Neice has joined our Maths and Science team and has moved to the Mid North Coast from Tasmania.
Heidi Day has stepped into the role of Hospitality and Food Technology specialist. We look forward to seeing the skills our students learn and the delights our students create under the guidance of Mrs Day. Heidi is no stranger to TCC having once been our Canteen Manager and in more recent years teaching a variety of classes on a casual basis.

Parent Lounge coming soon
Our new Parent Lounge is coming shortly. Unfortunately, our launch has been delayed a little but we are working on having it ready for families to use soon. Keep your eye out for an email about access to your Lounge account.
This will be a new way for the College to interact with our families. The previous Parent Portal has been deactivated. Parents and carers will be issued with their own private login details.
On the Lounge you will be able to see coming events, attend to absences, email teachers, check your fee balance, update vital medical information, view timetables, book Parent Teacher Interviews, track academic progress, and give permissions for excursions - all in the one place.
The Lounge will be easy to use, and we will assist you in becoming familiar with it. We believe having all this information at your fingertips will make communication between families and the College simple and streamlined.
COVID Safe Birthday Cakes
Unfortunately due to the current COVID climate, home-baked birthday cakes cannot be accepted at the College. Commercially made and packaged cakes can be sent to school and Celebration Packs are available through the canteen and may be ordered through flexischools.
Hospitality Kitchen Due to open
We eagerly await the gastronomical delights that will be created in our new commercial kitchen. Works are being finalised and the kitchen will be in use in the coming weeks.
Senior Study Open
Our Year 11 and 12 students have a new 'home away from home'. Last week this new space was opened. Providing an area for quiet study, an area to socialise and be together, as well as a fully equipped covered outdoor area.
Art Department
Our Art Department is in need of clean cotton and towelling rags, newspapers and 4-litre icecream containers, empty preferably. If students could drop them at the Artrooms that would be appreciated.
2021 Fees Policy
Please be aware our 2021 College Fee Policy and Enrolments Policy conditions changed this year. Although the change is minor it does have a significant effect. The clause regarding departing the College 'without adequate notice' has been simplified. We still require a full term's written notice to the Business Manager. If this requirement is not met a 13-week fee penalty will apply, previously this could be up to 20 weeks. We believe this change is fair to the College and our families. This clause encompasses all students enrolled at the College. The Fee Policy for 2021 is available on the College Website.
