What's Been Going On in the Land Down Under (the Library)?
Back in Term 1, MC3 experimented with a geo-political idea in History/Geography...
What if we imagined we were our own little 'land' instead of the (very nice) former Science lab we were in? If we formed a 'nation' of sorts, what would it be like? Who would decide the laws, and how? What are 'rules' anyway? Do they have a purpose and value that makes them worth the effort of complying with, and enforcing, them?
Thanks to the high calibre nature of the students' questioning and thinking skills, combined with their attempts to "keep discussions kind", a constitutional republic was formed...Emcia. We are naturally and respectfully bound to the motherland/colonial rulers (our school) and have a special relationship with MC1 and MC2, like the Aussies and the Kiwis. Our motto shows that we most value patience, endurance, and maintaining a sense of humour.
